1. What services do Gritworks Ltd provide?

2. How does Gritworks Ltd determine when to grit?
We monitor weather forecasts and road surface temperatures 24/7. Gritting is carried out when temperatures are forecasted to drop below 0°C, and there is a risk of frost, ice, or snow. We take measurements of the road surface temperature (RST) not the air temperature. Even on cold days the roads may have retained enough heat for treatments not to be necessary.

6. What type of grit does Gritworks Ltd use?
We use high-quality white rock salt, which is the standard de-icing material in the UK, effective in preventing ice formation and melting snow. Our rock salt conforms to BS3247:2011. Our white de-icing salt is marine salt harvested from sustainable sources around the Mediterranean Sea and is almost 100% pure sodium chloride. White salt does not leave behind the same messy residue as traditional brown salt (grit) making it perfect for pathways, pavements, playgrounds and commercial estates where cleanliness is important. With a purity level of almost 100% sodium chloride, every particle plays a part in the de-icing process. It is graded particle sizes for even distribution.
